PVC (polyvinyl chloride) roofing is the right answer for commercial buildings where TPO won't cut it. Where TPO is the workhorse single-ply for warehouses and retail, PVC steps in when the roof has to handle chemical exposure, grease, animal fats, or aggressive pollutants. Restaurants with rooftop kitchen exhaust, manufacturing plants, food processing facilities, laboratories, and chemical-handling operations all benefit from PVC's superior chemical resistance — the membrane simply doesn't break down where TPO would soften and fail over time.
PVC also outperforms TPO in fire resistance and weldability — the seams heat-weld into a chemical fusion bond that, when done right, is actually stronger than the membrane itself. For Louisiana's mix of hurricane wind, UV, and humidity, that integrity matters.
Duro-Last — the PVC system we install
Bayou Roofing is a certified Duro-Last contractor — the original custom-prefabricated PVC roof system. What makes Duro-Last different from every other single-ply on the market: every Duro-Last roof is fabricated to fit your specific building at the factory before it ever arrives on-site.
Most field-installed single-ply roofs have hundreds of feet of field seams — every one a potential failure point. Duro-Last cuts that number by up to 85%. Penetrations, parapets, corners, drains — all of it is heat-welded under controlled factory conditions and shipped as a fitted custom roof. Your crew on the deck just rolls it out and welds the perimeter. Faster install. Far fewer field seams. Dramatically lower leak risk over the life of the roof.
The system carries up to a 30-year edge-to-edge NDL warranty on qualifying installs — the strongest warranty in the single-ply roofing category.
How PVC roofing gets installed
Duro-Last PVC can be installed three ways depending on building specifics, wind zone, and budget:
- Mechanically-attached — fastened to the deck through pre-engineered overlap. Fast install, cost-effective, code-compliant for most Louisiana wind zones.
- Fully-adhered — bonded to the insulation with adhesive. No fasteners penetrate the deck. Highest wind uplift performance, cleanest aesthetic.
- Induction-welded — engineered plates bond the membrane to the deck without penetrating it. Excellent wind performance with the speed of mechanical attachment.
What PVC roofing costs in Louisiana
Commercial PVC installations in Louisiana typically run $5–$9 per sq ft installed, depending on system thickness, attachment method, deck condition, insulation specifications, and building complexity. A typical 20,000 sq ft commercial PVC replacement falls in the $100K–$180K range.
Compared to TPO, PVC is similar in upfront cost but typically delivers a longer effective service life in chemically-exposed environments. For restaurants, plants, and labs, the math works out in PVC's favor over the life of the roof.
Every Bayou Roofing quote is line-itemed: membrane, insulation, fasteners or adhesive, flashings, edge metal, cover boards, labor, disposal. No "miscellaneous" buckets, no surprise upcharges.
PVC warranty options
Duro-Last offers two warranty tiers on qualifying systems:
- 15-year Edge-to-Edge NDL — standard option. Covers membrane, accessories, and labor for repair.
- 20- and 30-year NDL — extended coverage on systems that meet stricter installation criteria. The 30-year NDL is the longest warranty in the single-ply industry.
Manufacturer warranties are only available through certified contractors. We hold Duro-Last certification specifically to offer them.

Common PVC questions
How long does a PVC roof last in Louisiana? A properly installed Duro-Last PVC roof typically lasts 25–30 years in Louisiana climate. Membrane thickness and proper edge fastening for wind uplift are the biggest longevity factors.
PVC or TPO — which should I choose? If your building has rooftop kitchen exhaust, chemical exposure, animal fats, or industrial pollutants, choose PVC. For standard warehouses, retail, and offices, TPO is typically more cost-effective. We'll walk you through the trade-offs during the inspection.
Is PVC fire-resistant? Yes — PVC membranes are inherently flame-resistant (the chemistry doesn't support combustion the way TPO sometimes can). For buildings with strict fire codes or chemical fire risk, PVC is the safer choice.
Can I get a 30-year warranty? Yes — Duro-Last's 30-year Edge-to-Edge NDL warranty is available on qualifying systems. We'll spec the install to meet the warranty requirements during our inspection.
